Program Notes:

Before I started writing this piece, I was faced with a period of time that was extremely stressful as I was piled on with work from school. My frustrations led to me wondering when this seemingly eternal period was ever going to end and if I was going to make it. I originally wanted to call the piece Glimpse and envisioned this piece as one that represents my struggles while looking out for the future.

In the end I did make it through that hectic period. It was months of continuous work, yet looking back on it, that few months felt so short in the grand scheme of things. I decided to re-envision the piece to one of a hopeful tone and changed the name to A Shimmer in the Burgeoning Blue. The title has a double meaning, and I want to tell my story with a shimmer, representing the hope that exists when we as people have to go through a tough time, and one that is inside the ever expanding sky. Through this piece, I want to show just how small these experiences mean in the end and how there’s so much more to look out for.
